Angeliki is a Healthcare Teacher at the 2nd Technical Highschool of Katerini, Greece. She received a B.Sc. in Healthcare from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, and she is currently studying Computer Science at the Greek Open University. She has been involved in a number of National and European projects relating to migration, racicm and xenophovia, including the “Crossing Borders – Migration in Europe” Comenius I school project. |

The game aims to stimulate interest in, and raise awareness about human rights, racism, migration and xenophobia, through motivating students to work with, and actively explore our stereotypes about different categories of “minority” groups, such as immigrants, refugees, disabled people, etc.
Each board space of the Game engages students into different activities (role-playing, brainstorming, pantomime, etc), aiming to demonstrate common discriminations in our everyday life.
Students participated actively during the whole project life cycle: selecting the subject, defining the educational objectives, searching libraries and the web, designing learning activities, preparing digital and printed material (e.g. cards), etc. The tasks were done by different groups of students in a cooperative way - the groups met regularly under the supervision of the teacher to progressively integrate their individual work into a coherent scenario.
Students used technology tools during the design, implementation and evaluation of learning activities e.g. to process data and report results, to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.
The game was played at school for over a week with different groups of students. After participating in the game, each group was assigned with a homework which was selected during the game and served as the basis for group assessment. In addition, students reflected their opinion about the game and its effectiveness through a questionnaire, which aimed at revealing the qualitative aspects of the learning scenario - the initial evaluation results were very promising.
The game was awarded the 1st price in Greece in the Microsoft Innovative Teachers Competition, and was presented in ITF 2007 in Paris, France, March 29-30, 2007.
