27 May 2009, T-Seniority Workshop at the Prefecture of Thessaloniki

On 27 May 2009 the Prefecture of Thessaloniki and ALTEC organized a special public T-Seniority Workshop at the Prefecture of Thessaloniki, Greece. They presented the e-Services of the Greek pilot that support assisting living of aging people.

In particular the Prefect opened the Workshop. In the following the IT advisor of the Prefecture explained to the audience the potential of T-Seniority system and how it facilitates independent living of elderly people. After that, ALTEC Research Programmes Division group personnel presented live the T-Seniority system they deployed in collaboration with the Prefecture of Thessaloniki which offers public e-services for carrier centers in Greece.

The kind of attendants was cariers, such as National/Regional/Local Public Administrations related to Care Services for elderly people and Private Social-Sanitary Care Services Providers.

Here are reported some hints taken directly from participants’ discussion during the workshop - just to briefly show the main comments received:

“Carers will be very interested to be involved in The T-Seniority project and train the elderly and use T-Seniority service in their job”

“The training of T-Seniority service indirectly helps elderly to learn computer use”

“To persuade ageing use T-Seniority service we have to approach their psychology”

“Appointment at hospitals would be a very interesting feature of T-Seniority”

“Order in a pharmacy of the neighbourhood would be a very interesting feature of T-Seniority”

“T-Seniority should provide particular information services”

“Communication with the doctor of the area would be also a very interesting feature of T-Seniority”

“Most elderly people in Greece are unlettered so we have to use many icons and videos in Greek trials.”

“Elderly over 80-90 years old are not possible to use T-Seniority”

“We are afraid that elderly will not go outside their home because most of their needs will be covered by T-Seniority service”
